How are permanent impairment payouts calculated in Qld?: the short answer
Your statutory lump sum comes from your degree of permanent impairment (DPI) and the current year’s QOTE.
- 2025-2026 FY per 1%: $4,222.58.
- DPI < 30%: total = DPI x $4,222.58.
- DPI ≥ 30%: add the Schedule 3 amount (multiplier x QOT), subject to a cap of 216.15 x QOTE.
- This lump sum is different from a common law claim for negligence.

"WorkCover QLD permanent impairment table" explained

- Your DPI as stated in a Notice of Assessment issued by the workers' compensation insurer
- The QOTE as published for the financial year and the fixed amount paid per percentage.
- Any additional lump sum payable for gratuitous care or because of the seriousness of your injury.
Our calculator maps this into dollars for you.
